In March 2020, the French government took significant restrictive measures to deal with the VIDOC-19 pandemic: closure of public places and stores and a ban on the movement of citizens.
"Dohyeon Eom: a retrospective 2011-2020" is a documentation of in-home exhibitions that the artist Dohyeon Eom realized during two months of lock-down in her apartment in Saint-Denis. Taking advantage of this period to tidy up the archives of the photographs she had taken until then, Dohyeon Eom decided, somewhat by chance, to install the photos in her apartment.
This in-home exhibition set, which began by pasting a few photos on the empty wall of a room, is increasingly extending to intimate living spaces such as the bathroom, the kitchen or the toilet. The retrospective project, which covers all of Dohyeon's photographic work from 2011 to 2020, is a self-exhibition performance in a particular situation, which attempts to transform the home, a daily living space, into a space for creation.
In this publication, in addition to the cover in collaboration with the graphic designer Hezin O in her studio in Seoul, a total of 15 photos of home exhibitions are bound in random order.
The structure of the book means that all the photographs are divided into four parts and mixed together. If you remove the staples in the center of the book, you can see the entire image as a poster.
