Description

Keep writing, and let your thoughts expand freely. The pencil tip glides lightly across the page, its steady rustle weaving through the text. Consciousness and imagery stretch beyond boundaries—circling, marking, highlighting, describing—until you enter a pure rhythm of discovery, reaching what was once unseen. Whether pausing or racing ahead, anchoring or surrendering, the voice of the heart flows outward. The texture of language comes alive on paper.
This pencil is Mitsubishi Pencil’s “9800 series,” first introduced in 1946. In 1971, Mitsubishi partnered with Taiwan’s Liberty Stationery to establish a joint factory, after which production also began in Taiwan. For nearly 80 years, this premium pencil has been cherished by users in both Japan and Taiwan, securing its place as a true classic.
The Chi Ming edition packaging was designed by Mihon Seibutsu, with finely adjusted gold foil stamping on the pencil body. The outer box uses Japan’s Cornervery stapler straight-corner binding—rough but exquisite—a balance of rawness and refinement.
With this release, Chi Ming hopes the pencil will continue to accompany us as we craft book after book—rough with passion and impulse, yet endlessly exquisite. And we look forward to it dancing alongside your inspiration as well.
