《Holz Bau》出版三年後，我們將目光轉向鋁材——這種較晚出現的建築材料——並將研究焦點鎖定於美國建築。從鋁板包覆的住宅到摩天大樓，鋁材所象徵的未來主義形象愈發鮮明，並影響了以 Googie 風格及其後期後現代風格所建的公路餐館。
本書因此收錄了 19 件美國與 4 件日本的建築案例，皆建於現代主義過渡至後現代主義的轉型時期，並以照片、圖面、插畫與漫畫加以呈現。為了深化對這些多元建築樣貌的理解，我們進行了一系列訪談與對談，包括：東京大學建築生產與施工方法專家Tomoyuki Gondo的專文；《Shelter》作者、同時也是《Whole Earth Catalog》Shelter 專欄編輯的Lloyd Kahn訪談；Googie 建築代表事務所 Armet Davis Newlove Architects合夥人Victor Newlove的訪談；東京大學與哈佛大學建築史與理論學者Seng Kuan的對談；以及建築師Yoshiharu Tsukamoto的討論。透過與這群背景各異的專業人士交流，我們試圖更深入理解這些複雜而多層次的建築實踐。
