Description

MXTP Vol. 1 gathers a wild mix of display typefaces: blocky, funky, experimental, sad, geometric, distorted, nerdy, sticky, obsolete, trippy, and everything in between. Designed largely during Maxitype’s summer type residencies in Cucuron, France, these fonts embrace freedom over functionality. Originally known as the Maxitype Free Font Residency, MXTP encourages creative risk and rejects commercial pressure, allowing designers to explore references, techniques, and tools without limits. Loud music, fast ideas, and spontaneous experimentation shaped fonts created in a week, a day, or even an hour by the pool or at the bar. After three summers of MXTP, this volume kicks off a series of “mixtapes” that celebrate type design at its most liberated and playful.
